Juniper the Pit Bull was found in California as an abandoned bait dog. Her body was full of attack scars and her teeth were filed down so that she couldn’t defend herself.
The 9-year-old pooch had spent her entire life being tortured by the dog fighting ring owners.
A local shelter offered to take in Juniper and help her regain her health. When 27-year-old Seattle woman Maggie Hull learned about Juniper, she immediately came forward to adopt her. She wanted the dog to have the best life. But unfortunately, luck was not on Juniper’s side.
Just 5 months after being adopted, Juniper suffered a spinal stroke and got paralyzed from the waist down. She spent a year getting surgeries and rehab therapies, and eventually regained her nerve function. But one of her legs had to be amputated due to complications.
Juniper had also become incontinent, and she needed to be on doggie diapers all the time. She was on heavy antibiotics and often developed infections. Juniper’s life was unfair from every side, but Maggie refused to be a silent witness to the dog’s pain. She got Juniper a wheelchair for support and encouraged her to embrace life again.
Maggie noticed a remarkable change in Juniper from the day she got her wheelchair. The senior dog discovered an adventurous side to her personality, and began exploring the world around her with a newfound zest for life!
Today, Juniper is a happy girl who’s always on the go with a smile on her face. After going through so much in her life, she has decided to leave her pain behind and only count her blessings. We thank Maggie for being the angel who helped Juniper blossom despite the odds in her life!
