A once-of-a-lifetime moment has been captured as an enormous sea turtle emerges from the ocean in an unknown area, resting in the sand then heading back to disappear in the waves.
A group of visitors who were lucky to witness the scene filmed it in the video below. The animal was later claimed to be a majestic leatherback turtle.

So, how big a leatherback turtle can really be? Identified as the world’s largest sea turtle, the Leatherback turtle grows up to 7 feet long and weighs up to 2,000 pounds as adults. One of the distinctive features that make Leatherback turtles different from other turtles is their front flippers which can reach up to 8.9 feet in length.
They populate mostly in the temperate, subtropical, and tropical waters of the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian oceans. They travel individually and only meet other turtles for breeding.
Another feature that helps distinguish these turtles is their shell, for which they are named after. Unlike most turtles, they don’t have a bony carapace but frow thick, leathery skin on their back.
The World Wildlife Fund has classified the Leatherback turtle as a vulnerable species due to the sharp decrease in its population over the years. Therefore, it is not easy to be able to see a Leatherback turtle nowadays. Let’s enjoy this rare sight!
