Hearts broke when shelter staff watched Barley cry after his owner surrendered him and never looked back

Meet Barley. On August 25, 2021, this beautiful German Shepherd was handed over to the Riverside Animal Shelter by his owner. He never looked back or even said goodbye. Instead, his owner walked away, and Barley watched. When he was taken to his shelter cage, he cried loudly, not to mention his heart broken.

An animal advocate posted her feelings on social media: “Oh What a heartbreaking confusion and trauma it is for a pet to surrender cruelly and leave the poor The betrayed pet was stunned, overwhelmed, and heartbroken. The owner didn’t even turn back to ascertain Barley on longer . it’s beyond cruel heartless, unacceptable and inexcusable to surrender ones loyal loving and trusting human companion.. Please help this beautiful natured sweet loving and precious darling boy today.”
